- Did You Know...
- Movement Melts Away Stress.
As much as it may stress you out just to think about exercising, once you actually start working out, you'll experience less stress in every part of your life. "Exercise produces a relaxation response that serves as a positive distraction," says Cedric Bryant, chief exercise physiologist for the American Council on Exercise. He says it also helps elevate your mood and keep depression at bay. You're not the only person who will benefit from more happiness and less stress in your life. When you're less stressed, you're less irritable, Atkinson says -- and that could improve relationships with your partner, kids, and co-workers.
- Fast Fitness Fact...
- Muscle is 3 times more efficient at burning calories than fat.
A pound of muscle will burn six calories at rest while a pound of fat will burn only 2 calories. Changing your workout routine will SHOCK your body into burning more calories. People who do the same workout over and over again for weeks or even months at a time are just maintaining their fitness. Without change, your body has no challenge to overcome, and as a result, will not increase fitness.

Recipe of the Month
Chipotle Shrimp Taco with Avocado Salsa Verde
Ingredients
Avocado Salsa:
1 small onion, quartered
1 jalepeno, quartered, seeds optional
1 garlic clove, smashed
4 medium tomatillos (about 8 oz), husked, rinsed & coarsely chopped
1/2 Haas avocado, peeled, seeded and cut into chunks
1 1/4 tsp kosher salt
1/4 cup loosely packed fresh cilantro leaves, coarsely chopped
Shrimp:
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp chipotle or blended chili powder
1 tsp kosher salt
1 lb medium shrimp (about 20), peeled and deveined
8 corn tortillas (I used whole wheat and it was delicious)
2 limes, cut into wedges
Cooking Instructions
-
Put the onion, jalapeno, and garlic in a food processor and finely chop. Add the tomatillos, avocado, and salt and pulse until chopped but still chunky. Transfer to a bowl and stir in the cilantro.
-
Heat a stovetop or outdoor grill to medium-high. Mix the olive oil, chipotle or chili powder, and salt in a large bowl. Add the shrimp and toss to coat. Grill the shrimp until translucent, about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes on each side.
-
Grill tortillas, until slightly charred and pliable, about 20 seconds per side. (Alternatively, wrap in a damp paper towel and heat in a microwave.) Spoon sauce on the tortilla, then top with about 2 or 3 shrimp and a sprig of cilantro. Serve 2 tacos per person, with a lime wedge on the side.
