Yes, you absolutely can run too hard. Try to keep your feet low to the ground and your knees bent so that you're not pounding the ground but lightly placing your feet down. Does that make sense? Your shin pain could be from running on asphault (not sure if that's where you're running most but maybe switch it up and run on the ground or treadmill) or maybe you need a more cushioned shoe. Inserts in your shoe may help too. I hope this helps!

Breathing is a big part of running and also your stance. Concentrate on breathing in through your nose and out of your mouth helps to keep your breathing controlled and won’t exhaust you as much. Also, when you run you should always keep a pretty good bend in your knees and try to stay low to the ground. Keep your shoulders down and away from your neck so you aren’t feeling shoulder pain and try to keep your arms from swinging too much to the sides and try to keep them in front of you and low. Leaning a little forward especially going up hills and concentrate on tucking your stomach in so it doesn’t hurt your back. Eating a protein bar or energy bar an hour or two before usually helps and hydrate through the day. I always have to remind myself of these things too because you get tired and your form suffers from it. Try it and see if you feel a difference. I hope it works for you Carletta! :-) Happy running!!!
